News from the European Union

The European Union’s CCS Directive has been issued, as of April 23, 2009.  Under the directive, the member states have two years to transpose it into binding national law.  The Directive sets out the conditions under which geological sequestration will qualify as an emissions reduction that will be able to be monetized through the EU Emissions Trading System.
